(ENGLISH/GRAMMAR)
Abeka Grammar and Composition; Rod and Staff Building Christian English
Series; Easy Grammar; Shurley Grammar; Jensen's Grammar; and one of
our favorites, Daily Grams. Reading good literature is a must, too!
Encourage your children to pay attention to the details of not only spelling but
also correct grammar usage and punctuation in all of their copywork and dictation.
Ruth Heller books have been recommended to us for elementary grades.
A site with daily online lessons in grammar is http://www.dailygrammar.com/archive.shtml.
Site contains instruction, practice, or review for parts of speech, capitalization,
punctuation, and more. There are 440 free lessons from which to choose with
definitions, short exercises, and answers.
Learning Language Arts Through Literature (LLAL) http://www.cspress.com/ incorporates
copywork, dictation, and language arts study using selected passages from good books. The
"colored covers" of books indicate different recommended grade levels. In past years we
enjoyed most of LLAL's recommended reading as well as their dictation exercises, but we
continued to use additional materials for thorough English grammar instruction.
Grammar online instruction that is helpful with grammar rules, vocabulary, and spelling

The Grammar Key is an interactive cd-rom program on two disks (purchased separately)
-- one for parts of speech and one for punctuation. It instantly alerts students to errors,
so they aren't allowed time to accept their wrong answers as correct. Lessons can be
repeated. It can been used for mastering the elements of English grammar for grades 4-12.
