HOME EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES
That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our
daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a
palace: ... Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is
that people, whose God is the LORD.
Psalms 144: 12, 15

After nineteen years of home
education, my husband and I continue to be
thankful that
God has led us to provide for our children's education at home. We also continue to enjoy
learning about good educational materials that challenge, build character, and "stretch" us
as well as our children, and we appreciate other parents sharing their "favorites" with us.
Whether you homeschool or not, if you want a "teaching home" or gift ideas for those
special children in your life, we think you will enjoy perusing many of these sites.
We have tried to make our site "user friendly;" just left click the "http:" sites
for easy access. There are links to more than 100 sites which are favorite sources of
information and educational materials for children of all ages. We hope the Table of
Contents will be helpful; just left click the underlined section you'd like to browse
- a big "THANKS!" to our dear son for adding this feature.
May God Bless America.
Find scripture verses, famous quotes, and recommended reading throughout this site.
Since I don't know where to include this site within the Table of Contents, I will mention it
here. A dear friend at Ballet Magnificat! sent an e-mail saying tickets for their Christmas
performance, "Christmas Dream," are now on sale. See http://www.balletmagnificat.com/
if you are interested. Note: There will not be a special school performance this year.
Another link for which I don't have a spot on the Table of Contents is a wonderful article
about having "tea time" with your children by Mrs. Lynn Bruce. If interested, read at
http://www.amblesideonline.org/VirtuesofTea.shtml.
The man who does not read good books has no advantage over the man
who can't read them. ~Mark Twain
If you are considering home education, need encouragement in your homeschooling journey,
or if you are simply interested in being informed about something of which you know very
little, go to Section 3, "ARTICLES about Home Education." It's a mini-conference for free!
"Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty as well as the
privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers."
John Jay, First Chief Justice of the Supreme Court
We must be informed and prayerfully involved in our "civic and political duties" for the sake
of our children and for the future of our republic. For more information about current issues
look under Section 8, CURRENT EVENTS & POLITICAL ISSUES.

(Note: This message is from a year ago, but we are leaving it on this site
because hurricane season is here again.) *It's also a great resource to use
if you want to "get a taste" of a more classical approach to home education
or if you are waiting for new materials to come in for this school year.
A message from the Ambleside Advisory about EMERGENCY RELIEF for recent
hurricane victims (a quote from their website link) is as follows: "We know that there
are more important things than missed schooling during a crisis. But sometimes in the
midst of disasters, creating a small oasis of normalcy and continuity is very important.
In the midst of such a disaster, grown ups with many urgent details on their minds
cannot focus on thinking up things for children to do, and it is our prayer that this
free resource will fill a needed niche."
The Ambleside Online Advisory created a free curriculum plan for families who need
emergency educational help for their children in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina.
It is freely available online and requires no materials other than pencil and paper, and
a Good Samaritan friend with access to a computer and a printer. All texts and activities
required are available online for free. It is user-friendly and designed to suit a wide age
range. See AO-HELP -- Ambleside Online Helping Hands Emergency Learning Plan
at http://www.amblesideonline.org/HELP.shtml
We offer this in the hopes that it will fill a gap for the churches, support groups and other
organizations that suddenly need to set up temporary schools for the evacuated children
in their care who no longer have schools to attend, and also for families who wish to
continue homeschooling during this crisis but do not have access to school materials.---
Please help us get the word out about AO-HELP. ---Thank you!
